Position Information:

Role(s): Academic Director of the Chester Hill and Online Campuses
Program Director, Bachelor of Contemporary Ministry

Reporting to: Academic Dean, Alphacrucis

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Academic Director of the Chester Hill and Online campuses is to ensure excellence of the Higher Education programs on the Chester Hill and Online campuses.

The key responsibility of the Program director is to provide leadership and oversight of the Bachelor of Contemporary Ministry program.

Therefore responsible for the following:

The role of Academic Director of the Chester Hill and Online Campuses, and Program Director of the Bachelor of Contemporary Ministry will include:
1. Orchestrating the planning and delivery of quality education programs on the campus. This includes timetabling (in consultation with the Program Directors of awards offered on the campus) , coordinating enrolment opportunities, providing academic advice, and coordinating study skills programs;
2. Leading and managing faculty based on the campus, including providing induction, coordinating professional development, and coordinating any casual lecturers on the campus;
3. Addressing student issues, including those arising in relation to attendance, academic conduct, and the College grievance policy;
4. Contribute to budget development and implementation in support of academic programs on the campus and identified institutional priorities;
5. Participate in the various academic and organizational committees as required;
6. Teaching units in the area of expertise as assigned by the relevant Program Director.

The role of Program Director of the Bachelor of Contemporary Ministry will include:

1. Providing leadership and oversight of the program, and generally overseeing the delivery of the award. This includes the development, improvement and preparation for re-accreditation of the award;
2. Coordinating course offerings in the program in consultation with Academic Directors of each campus on which the award is offered;
3. Providing academic advice to students in the award and overseeing the provision of academic advice by the relevant faculty;
4. To monitor student progress and retention issues, and report and advise on these to the Academic Board;
5. To provide information to the marketing department to assist in the promotion of the award;
6. To evaluate requests and administer the transfer credits, manage academic appeals, and ensure that those applying for graduation have satisfied the program requirements;
7. Participate in the various academic and organizational committees as required;
8. Teaching units in the area of expertise as assigned by the relevant Program Director.

Key Competencies:

Skills/Qualities Required:
• Completion of an earned doctorate from an Australian university or other recognized Australian or international institution of higher education;
• Commitment to the Christian faith that informs one’s professional and personal choices and commitments;
• Evidence of successful teaching in higher education, and of scholarly and professional achievement;
• Understanding of the mission of higher education within the church;
• Successful experience in academic administration;
• Proven leadership, people and communication skills.
