Truth transforms: We want our students to learn, to question, to experience.
The philosopher and scientist Michael Polanyi acknowledges the existence of an objective truth, but argued that we cannot find this truth purely by scientific method or academic study alone. There is always a part of the picture that will only reveal itself if we passionately expose ourselves to the experience.
Once we see the truth, the total picture, we come to a new level of knowing. We replace old ideas by new truth. This transforming power of a self-discovered truth is liberating and empowering.
Therefore we acknowledge that we need two types of classrooms, one type you can find on our campuses, the other type you will find somewhere out there in the world.
